Jeesh. I'm lame. I DO have an excuse, though! After I got sick and everything that happened in the last blog entry, my MacBook charger stopped working! YES. And I didn't get a chance to take it up to Best Buy to look at it until just this last Friday. They looked at it and said that since Macs rarely get problems, that when they do, they usually just replace the computer if it is within the return time frame. So I got a brand new Book. Sweet! So far, so good!
It's been a crazy couple of weeks. This past week alone I've had a lot to do. First and foremost though, Jake had his six month check up!! He is my big boy! He is 28 inches tall, and 19lbs 6oz, with a head circumference of 44.5cm! He is in the 90th, 75th and 75th percentiles in each category, respectively. I was excited because it seems he is getting his daddy's tall genes, and not the short Heden ones. None of the men on my side are all that tall. Not only that, but his head finally caught up in growth compared to his body! Woot! No peanut brain, here. lol. He also took a look in his mouth and said that Jake would have his two lower teeth within a month!! Low and behold, two days later...tooth number one breaks through on his lower left side!! My big boy!! Tooth #2 looks like it's not far behind!
Anyhoo... quick update, but I've got a lot to do. More later!
Welcome! I've titled this "Monkey Business" because my entire life revolves around my son Jake, who we lovingly call "Monkey". Original, I know. Regardless of the fact that we're completely lacking in creativity when it comes to nicknames, he is my sunshine and pride and joy. This is a collection of my thoughts, feelings, and basic commentary on my every day life being a mommy (first and foremost), a wife, a sister, and a daughter. Enjoy!

Quarter Century and then some...
Ok, I'm officially lame. It has been two friggin' weeks since I updated. I have an excuse though, I promise!! First of all, my computer access lately has been spotty. They are taking away our access to everything extracurricular at work... as in no internet whatsoever that isn't work related, except for our bank websites. (Yeah... WTF? Why should I have to be punished? I'm still 150% productive!!) Second, I've been busy as heck with work, and once I get home, getting online is honestly the last thing I think of. Third, I was away for four days and then I got sick!! Boo! Regardless, I'm determined to keep this up as this is supposed to be my new hobby!
So what has happened in the last two weeks? Other than the norm, not a ton. I can talk for days about what my blog is focused on... my monkey boy. He is officially six months old and SITTING like a big boy! :) He has been abnormally cranky (which, compared to most babies, still isn't cranky lol, but it's cranky for him). A lot of the time I can't figure out for the life of me what the heck his problem is. So my guess is that his teeth are pushing up, even though I can't see or feel anything in there yet. He eats solids two to three times daily and is showing less and less interest in nursing... which makes me sad, and I'm not sure that is supposed to happen yet. He only shows true interest in it when he first wakes up and when he goes to sleep at night. Hmm...
Other than monkey, I turned twenty five on 9/4/2010 :). I had an awesome birthday weekend up in Tahoe with some of my closest friends. I left Thursday with one of my friends and the baby boy. Mom and Corrie arrived in the early evening. We hung out and drank wine and relaxed in the hot tub. We were out there for a little while, and low and behold the neighborhood BEAR strolls by about one hundred feet away!! Holy double take!! I was out of that hot tub and into the house quicker than you could say, "Holy CRAP! That's a bear!" Haha. Even though it got out adrenaline running, it was really cool. I went to bed after that. Friday we took it easy in the morning, and then we spent the day walking around the shops in South Lake. We relaxed and drank LOTS of beer haha and waited for the rest of the clan to arrive Friday night, which, with traffic, took them until 11:00pm and 11:30pm respectively to arrive. No worries... we entertained our drunk selves with a dance party in the living room!! Everyone else arrived and we continued to drink and enjoy ourselves and make use of the awesomely gigantic stair case and the Pabst sleeping bag one of my friends brought along. Some of us sat in the hot tub for a bit, and yes, we saw Mr. Yogi Bear again, only this time, he was strolling down the street! It was just too funny because he walked by both nights without even acknowledging us, whatsoever. Like he was totally used to being around people or something. Hubby and I went to bed around 1am, knowing that Jake would wake us around 6, and everyone else stayed up until SIX AM!! Sheesh... if only I had that kind of stamina. If anything, this weekend just showed my age! Anyway, I was up pretty early feeding Jake his peaches and oatmeal on Saturday morning (my actual birthday)... but I woke up feeling like doodoo. I thought it was just a hangover from all the drinks the night before, and a sore throat from all the dry air up in the mountains. Boy was I wrong. The hangover feeling passed by 3pm or so, but the sore throat, aches, and chills persisted. I tried my hardest to ignore it by playing cornhole and wiffleball in the back yard, and drinking a couple of beers (which was fun, even though I felt like shitacka!). But, man, I just felt so crappy. I was in no mood to do anything, nor did I have the energy. Of COURSE this would happen on my birthday. :( We were all supposed to head out to the casinos for the night, but with the fever I was running and how crappy I was feeling, there was no way that was happening. So we just hung out again, but it was still fun. Everyone was exhausted from the night before. Sunday we were all up early so we could leave by 10am. I am so glad we left Sunday instead of Monday, though... we beat SO much traffic!!
I felt like complete crap Sunday. By the time I got home, I felt like I had been hit by a truck. :( I can't seem to understand why this kind of thing always tends to happen when I've got something going on. Karma? But for what??
Jake did not want to sleep last night. When we tried to put him down at his normal bed time (between 8 and 9) he just resisted and resisted. Boo. He finally went down around 10pm, but then woke up persistently between midnight and 2am. He would NOT go back to sleep when I went in at 2. So I brought him in and he slept on my chest, which meant no sleep for me. He still slept restless, so when he decided he was hungry at 4am (just in time for me to get up... with no sleep!), I fed him, and then he was OUT. COLD. He never falls back to sleep after his morning feeding. So I took advantage and called into work and told them I'd be in at 10. Luckily, my boss was totally cool about it. YAY! So I got a couple of hours of sleep and went in after that and had a pretty insane day. Oh well. It passed.
Now it's 9:20pm, and instead of being asleep like I could have been when Jake actually went down about an hour ago... I'm updating here. (I AM the idiot mother who doesn't sleep when her baby sleeps! :-P) I am absolutely BEAT and I am going to log off now.
Oh! Did I mention that Ryan got me a MacBook for my birthday?! Yeah... that's what I'm typing from now. I'm hoping now to set aside some time every night or two to sit down and write here... help me get some thoughts and / or feelings out before I turn in for the night. He definitely got some brownie points for this gift! :)
Good night for now... <3
